Christmas Gift Ideas

Hi folks,

Yes, I know, it's been a long time since I last wrote anything. We've been busy taking new orders and sometimes you just don't get chance to sit down and tell people what's going on!

But it is coming up to December, and I know we still have to cater for other communities' festivities... we're working on it though! In the meantime, we've added a few new Christmas desktop backgrounds to get your computers up to festive-season-scratch. And remember we also have Christmas magnets, cards and other gifts for sale in our online store. Don't leave your shopping till the last minute!

Ok so it's been a while since I last wrote anything, so I thought I'd prove I'm still around and haven't flown off to same forgotten island.

Anyway, it has been a good start to the year, having uploaded some new features (like desktop backgrounds), and welcoming more subscribers to the newsletter. We'll be issuing a new one over the next few days, highlighting the latest developments on our network.

Now, just in case you haven't set a reminder in your calendars... Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so don't leave your shopping to the last minute!! We've got the Valentine Owl and some soft toys too. They go just great with some flowers and/or chocolates :)

Which reminds me, I'll go have some chocolate now... No matter what you do though, remember to stay happy :)

Definitely the trend these days is to label everything as 'organic'. So I'm thinking of rebranding myself as Organic Owl. Born in an organic nest and bred off organic chocolate. Hm...

Ruminations and Indignations

No need to state the obvious regarding Hurricane Katrina at this point, but certainly offer condolences all around.

However, as a good friend of mine rightly said the other day, we all know how much pets can heal people in times of distress. So how was it that people were made to leave their pets and companions behind in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina?

A life is a life, no matter human or other. And we can't deny one the right over the other because we may think it inferior. Think of the blind who depend on their dogs, of people recovering from illness or trauma who are pacified by the company of an animal... Plutarch said the following:

"To the Dolphin alone, Mankind has given that which the best Philosophers seek:
Friendship for no advantage.
Though it has no need of help from any Man,
it is a genial friend to all and has helped Mankind."

Just think how many other animals have helped us... and look how they're repaid for it...
